Juries
Juries comprised of artists, arts professionals and arts connoisseurs will review nominations and applications in four program areas: 1) Visual Arts 2) Music & Dance 3) Design 4) Literature.  Each area jury will be made up of three members and may make more than one recommendation from among the nominees. The names of the jurors will be published on the website and in the Annual Awards Celebration program booklet. A jury rotation occurs every two years.

Selection Process:
Criteria in the first round include: Quality, innovation, risk-taking, ambition of purpose, social relevance.

The “jury of the whole” convenes to review the total pool of recommended candidates to determine the 3 artists of the year. Their final recommendations are presented to the Board.

Criteria in the final round include: Significance of creative and professional achievement, impact of the work in Northeast Ohio, local and national peer recognition, artist potential for continued artistic growth.

The jury process is planned and supervised by Cleveland Arts Prize staff. Jury sessions are documented and archived to allow sharing of comments with finalists.
