William Broulliard and Ron Meyers
William Brouillard,
a professor in the Ceramics Department at the Cleveland Institute
of Art, is the 2009 recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Cleveland Arts Prize.
Bill has taught at CIA since 1980. Like Ron Meyers, humor is an
important part in the imagery on his red earthenware
vessels. Images on the large platters and bowls often read like
comic strip cells telling a story or making a point. -– Opening
Saturday, July 25, 3-7pm and runing through August 22, 2009.

Tune in to WVIZ/PBS tomorrow night, Thursday, June 25, at 9 pm to hear Akron Art Museum Director and CEO Mitchell Kahan dialogue with other regional art institution directors on topics including:

state of Ohio's art museums in the current economic environmen
• Changes in the way museums operate compared to the past
• The new
relationships museums are building in their communities.
Other
panelists include Don Bacigalupi, Toledo Museum of Art; Sheri Geldin,
Wexner Center for the Arts (Columbus); and Timothy Rub, Cleveland
Museum of Art. The discussion was moderated by Steven Litt of the
Cleveland Plain Dealer and Dee Perry of Ideastream.
A replay of the
program will air Saturday, June 27 at 10 pm.

for Arts and Culture.

"Everyday Cooking Is as Easy as 3:2:1" for 2008 Cleveland Arts Prize Winner and author MIchael Ruhlman. Michael's new book, Ratio,
is reviewed, recipes are given and we learn the basic premise of
cooking using the ratios of ingredients in a dish instead of recipes.

TOBY DEVAN LEWIS HONORED
ArtTable, a leadership organization for professional women in the visual arts, honored Toby Devan Lewis at their 16th Annual Award Ceremony and Benefit Luncheon on Friday,
April 17, 2009, in New York. Toby was honored for inspiring, nurturing
and elevating the visual arts throughout the United States and the
world. Toby Lewis’ private foundation, the Toby Fund, as well as the
New Museum, the Museum of Contemporary Art Cleveland, Creative Capital, ideastream, Performa, Creative Time, Prospect.1 New Orleans and Artpace San Antonio are all beneficiaries of her commitment to fostering new ideas while
making them accessible to wider audiences. The impressive Progressive
Collection exemplifies her curatorial achievements, philanthropy and
passionate collecting. ARTWORKS was published by Ms. Lewis to document
the Progressive collection. Toby Lewis was a 2007 Cleveland Arts Prize winner of the Martha Joseph Prize.
